Have you ever asked to join someone’s Spotify jam just to hear the most gut-wrenching words stab back at you, “Um.. I use Apple Music, sorry.” Yeah – you should be sorry.
Spotify is better than Apple Music in every way possible. If you are an Apple Music user, please take what we are about to say lightly, but listen to us and make the switch to a happier, easier life with Spotify.
First of all, on Spotify, you can have access to millions of podcasts ranging from girl talks to author interviews, whereas Apple Music doesn’t have any. Apple Music users need a separate app, Apple Podcasts, to listen to podcasts. Why have two separate apps when you have one? Spotify users don’t even need an Apple device; you can use it on Android, iOS, Mac, smart speakers, TVs, and gaming consoles. There are no restrictions on where the app is available, but Apple Music is quite selective, as you can only use it on Apple products.
For avid Spotify users, December is a very exciting time, as it is when “Spotify Wrapped” is released. I witnessed a conversation this year between two of my friends, one an Apple Music user and the other a Spotify user. Spotify Wrapped came out, and we were all discussing our fun results, including, but certainly not limited to, our listening age, top songs and artists, and favorite genres. Our one Apple Music-using friend looked defeated as she realized none of these perks were available in her app. She frantically searched Apple Music for her listening age but couldn’t find it.
Another reason Spotify wins this battle is that it truly understands how people listen to music. Take the release radar, for example: every week, it creates a perfectly curated playlist of new songs and artists it knows you will love. On top of that, Spotify makes sharing and collaborating on playlists extremely easy, allowing you and your friends to create personalized playlists to listen to in the car, during hangouts, or whenever you want, without extra steps (unlike Apple Music…). If we are switching the conversation to functionality, Spotify wins out again because it works everywhere: Android, iOS, Mac, web, smart speakers, TVs, and even gaming consoles, so the joy of listening to music follows you everywhere, anywhere, not merely the Apple bubble.
So, the next time someone asks if they can join your Spotify jam, perhaps take it as a sign to switch over to the “good” side!
